Lesley LakeLesley lives and works in North Yorkshire. Her philosophy is fairly simple - take beautiful, quality components and try to show them to their best advantage. She individually designs and makes each piece of jewellery so each is unique.

She uses precious metals, semi precious gemstones, crystals and handmade lampwork beads. She loves working with silver wire and the way it moves and can be shaped.

People often talk about what inspires each piece, and for Lesley, it's more a particular mood rather than something tangible. Most often the beads lead the design and so they are the inspiration for her designs.

Most of her handmade jewellery incorporates lampwork glass beads. For the uninitiated, these are created by melting narrow rods of glass with the flame of a torch. Lampworking is a skill that takes a great deal of practice and patience. She is constantly amazed by the range of colours, shapes and decorative elements lampworkers manage to produce.

Some pieces are made using a lot of precious metal and expensive artisan beads, as well as several days of careful work to produce the finished item. This is especially true for those with a handmade chain. These pieces are therefore more expensive but ideal for a special occasion or gift.
